Congratulations to our 2011 Matthew Washington Award Recipient: Barbara Shannon - This touching video tells the story of Matthew Washington, a beloved former Futures Unlimited, Inc. employee who left a wonderful legacy. Each year, a member of our staff is nominated by his or her peers as most exuding the spirit of Matthew Washington, and given this award.
Concert on the Course has Futures ties - Michael Kocour and wife Heather Landes will take concert goers on a jazz journey on piano and flute. Michael is Colette Kocour's brother. Colette is a long-time Wellington resident and Futures Unlimited employee. Food served at the event will go to benefit Futures.
The menu includes:
Cuban sandwiches (tender, seasoned pork with melted Swiss cheese and pickles served on a grilled Ciabatta bun) for $4. We tried out a white, tangy sauce to serve with it and it was soooo delicious! If you're not adventurous enough for Cubans - we'll also be serving hamburgers. Also for sale: chips, homemade cookies, Pepsi, Diet Dr. Pepper, Sprite and water.
Walk a Mile in My Shoes Exceeds Goal - Erin Roberts with InterHab – which is the networking organization serving agencies like Futures—reports that we exceeded our initial goal of walking the circumference of the Earth (roughly 24,000 miles) and as the morning of April 26, 201, we have walked/run more than 75,000 miles in support of individuals with disabilities!!
Employee’s weight loss reverses diabetes - After reading some agency health information generated by the Futures wellness committee, Linda Vaughan began a weight-loss journey that is inspiring others.
Individual earns statewide recognition - Sam Ybarra's strides toward healtheir lifestyle choices, hard work and the desire to do more and more for himself earned him statewide recognition recently.
Workshop morphs into a Farkel Factory! - July 2010 - The Matthew Washington Center has transformed into a Farkel Factory! Production workers performed three assembly steps to assist the company Legendary Games based out of Wichita in building their Farkel games
Employee summer walking contest back for third year thanks to sponsors - June 2010 - The third annual employee stepping contest began in May and concludes in July. Last year employees walked over 20,000 miles over the summer and burned an estimated 2 milion calories in the process.
Futures now on Facebook - March 2010 - With over 700 visits to our page within a two-week time span, the Futures Facebook page looks to be a good way to inform the public about what we do.

Woman wins state-wide award for workplace achievement - OCTOBER 2009 - Marie Isenberg recently won InterHab’s Achievement in the Workplace award for her success and dedication to her job at McDonald’s which she has held for 17 years.
