Futures partners with Chamber to assemble 2,500 Wheat Festival buttons

June 2010 - Futures production workers took pride in a special contract recently with the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. They assembled 2,500 Wheat Festival buttons in preparation of the big festival which runs July 7-10. Wheat Festival buttons are the festival-goers admission to the many event taking place during the ten-day festival. "I thought working on them was fun and exciting," says Stacey Weigand who along with Mike Black assembled all 2,500 of the buttons. Stacey and Mike are both participants in Futures on-site vocational training program where they work on a variety of contracts to develop work skills to prepare them for a job in the community.

Many other production workers had a hand in placing 2,500 stickers onto the buttons.

Mike Corrigan, who is Futures' work products specialist was responsible for procuring this contract. "It was great partnering with the chamber on our first buttoning project," said Mike. "All of us took great pride working on this project knowing the buttons will be worn by many across the area for Wheat Festival."
