Walk a Mile in My Shoes Exceeds Goal
Erin Roberts with InterHab – which is the networking organization serving agencies like Futures—reports that we exceeded our initial goal of walking the circumference of the Earth (roughly 24,000 miles) and as of the morning of April 26, 201, we have walked/run more than 75,000 miles in support of individuals with disabilities!!
Here is Erin’s message:
Congratulations!
We’re pleased to announce that we have exceeded all expectations of the “Walk a Mile in My Shoes: Walk Around the World”. Over the past several weeks we have received numerous reports from member organizations that have held “Walk a Mile in My Shoes: Walk Around the World” events and the numbers are staggering! In addition to community events, we’ve had multiple track teams, schools, “Walk Kansas” participants and hundreds of marathon runners contribute miles to the campaign. As a result, we have not only met our goal of 24,902 miles (the circumference of the Earth) we’ve exceeded it!
As of this morning we have walked more than 75,000 miles – that means we’ve walked around the world more than 3 times!!!
We’re looking forward to celebrating this remarkable achievement tomorrow at the Walk a Mile in My Shoes: Walk Around the World Push Day rally. If you still have miles you would like to submit please do so by 3pm today. You can submit your miles at at www.invisiblekansans.com
Thank you for all your efforts!
