August 2014 - As the sun peaked over the horizon early on August 15th, Barefoot Jerry’s--Wellington’s ‘pub ‘n grub’ eatery and bar located at 214 N Washington--was opening up at a most unusual hour.
August 15th marked Futures Unlimited’s annual Back to School Breakfast with Barefoot Jerry, a benefit for the men, women, children and families served through and by Futures. From 7-10 am patrons enjoyed a tasty breakfast skillet, a side of fruit and a cinnamon roll over a cup of coffee or orange juice – all for just six dollars. Many dined in and were served by Futures staff and board members, and some took the breakfast to-go.
“We were pleased with the attendance again this year and raised over $2,100 which goes directly to the folks needing our supports and services in Sumner County,” says Trisha Logan, Futures’ communications coordinator. “We always enjoy partnering with Jerry, his daughter Lindy and Brad Ewing, who has for the third year in a row been assisting in the kitchen. We couldn’t have been more pleased with how quickly and efficiently Jerry cooked up 170+ meals.”
Futures would like to thank those who came out to support their fundraiser and the following sponsors who made it possible: American Fidelity Securities, Fritzler's Body Shop, Wheat Country, Triumph Accessory Systems, Rand Graphics, Network Management Group, Inc., the Wellington Aktion Club and Delta Dental, Wal-Mart as well as several employees and board members.
Futures is Sumner County’s preferred provider of disability supports and services as well as early intervention and preschool supports. Find them on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
