December 23, 2014 – In the Kansas Star Casino’s 2nd annual Trees of Hope contest, nine area non-profits decorated Christmas trees on display at the casino. This was in an effort to win votes from the general public to raise money, awarded by the casino, for their cause.
Futures Unlimited, Inc. won the contest by receiving the most votes for their tree and will be awarded the $5,000 first-place cash prize. “This contest is just another avenue for friends of Futures to display their support and they came through for those we serve with flying colors,” says Trisha Logan, communications coordinator for Futures. “All proceeds from the contest will go to benefit the men, women, children and families served by Futures.”
The runner-up was the DAV who won $2,500. The Wichita Children’s Theatre and Dance Center was awarded $1,000 for their third-place finish. All contest entrants received $150 for participating.
“I’d like to thank each of our supporters who made time to cast a vote for our tree,” says Tom Kohmetscher, Futures president/CEO. “Signs of support from the general public like this reinforce the importance of Futures to the residents of Sumner County.”
