April 2015 - For families struggling with poverty or other stressful factors affecting their well-being, taking time to plan for, schedule, attend and pay for their children’s health checks is not often attainable.

Thanks to the ongoing support of our local health care community, dentist Gwen M Stalcup, DDS and family practice doctor Steve W. Hawks, DO, families enrolled in Futures Head Start or Early Head Start services have the opportunity to get the medical attention they need. “By partnering with these local medical practitioners, children are receiving critical preventative care and developmental screenings to help support their future success,” says Jennifer Biehler, Futures director of Head Start. “This helps families feel more comfortable so they are better positioned to seek out their own medical care and become self-supportive.”
